The EW2 Cable Transmission Tunnel Project is part of Singapore’s nationwide underground power transmission initiative designed to future-proof the country’s electricity infrastructure. Located approximately 60 meters below ground, the East-West & North-South cable tunnels provide secure, long-term conduits for extra-high-voltage (EHV) power cables, eliminating the need for disruptive road works and enhancing the overall resilience of Singapore’s power grid.

Solution & Implementation
Concord executed the electrical and Extra-Low Voltage (ELV) installation works for the EW2 section. The scope included the installation of Extra-High Voltage (EHV) transmission cables, Low Voltage (LV) power systems, auxiliary power, lighting, lightning protection, radio communication, and CCTV systems, as well as comprehensive testing and commissioning across a 7-km tunnel network. All works were delivered to stringent quality and safety standards, ensuring a reliable and future-ready power transmission backbone. The project commenced in 2015 and was successfully completed in 2018.
Results & Value
The project underscores Concord’s capability in delivering complex, large-scale underground power infrastructure and its continued role in strengthening Singapore’s critical utilities network.
