Overview

The North-South & East-West Lines (NSEWL) are Singapore’s oldest and most heavily used MRT lines. To ensure their continued reliability and meet growing commuter demand, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) launched a Core Systems Renewal and Upgrade Programme. A key focus was strengthening the power supply system to enhance network resilience, minimize service disruptions, and support higher train frequencies.

Solution & Implementation

Concord was entrusted with a mission-critical task, the Installation, Termination, Testing & Commissioning (ITC) of new 22 kV loop main cables forming the lifeline of the NSEWL’s high-voltage power network. From 2018 to 2023, our team successfully integrated modern, higher-capacity cables without disrupting ongoing train operations. This upgrade was a vital step in strengthening system resilience, minimizing power-related disruptions, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of Singapore’s busiest MRT lines.

Results & Value

The upgraded power supply network has significantly enhanced the reliability and operational stability of the NSEWL, ensuring consistent service for millions of commuters. The project stands as a testament to Concord’s strong technical capability and proven track record in delivering mission-critical, high-voltage power solutions that power Singapore’s rail future.
